As a part of a continuing program of donating part of the proceeds of every show to a local nonprofit group, WBCT has chosen CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children as the group for this show. CASA volunteers advocate for children in foster care to achieve safe, permanent homes. Since 2001, their experienced staff have screened, trained, and assisted community members who are appointed by the Juvenile Court in Barrow, Jackson, and Banks Counties. These volunteers visit their assigned children monthly, ensure that safe foster care is provided while the court and parents work on the problems, make recommendations to the court for the safety of the children, help provide communication between the court and the family, and find resources to meet the often urgent needs of the child. If you would like more information about CASA, please see their website at www.piedmontcasa.org or contact Annette at 706-387-6375.
